Newly created conferences are placed under the "New Conferences" tab of the Canvas Conferences page. Here they can be entered by clicking "start" or "join" on the right-hand side.
Upon entering the conference, a window will pop up to ask you "How would you like to join the audio?" Clicking "Microphone" will enter you into the meeting with your mic open while clicking "Listen only" will enter you with your mic muted to start with.
Caveat: Upon clicking "Microphone" or upon un-muting yourself for the first time, you will be asked if you want to allow Canvas Conferences to access your microphone. Click "Allow" if you want to talk.
Finally, a window will come up with a "Yes" green thumbs up icon and a "No" red thumbs down icon. If you have allowed microphone use you should be able to speak and hear your words come back to you. This lets you test your mic before entering the conference. Click "Yes" if your mic is working.
You should now be in the Canvas Conference.
