Government Information

A guide for finding government resources and information

Idaho Maps: Overview

The Idaho map collection is made up of the Primary Series USGS Topographical 7.5 minute Quadrangal Series, ranging from historical to current. Most quadrangles for the area  surrounding Boise are available.  Most have been received through the Federal Government Library Program.  They are located on the main level to your right as you enter the building and can be checked out for 4 weeks.

To locate a map:

  1. Use the USGS topo index for Idaho to determine the appropriate quad name.
  2. Look up the quad name in the map drawer.  Quads are stacked alphabetically by place name.
  3. Ask the Librarian on duty at the Information desk if you need assistance.
