Sudocs Classification System

How to find a U.S. Government Publication

Federal Government publications are arranged by the Superintendent of Documents (Sudoc) classification number.  As a Federal Depository Library, we receive many publications issued by agencies of the U.S. Government.  These publications may include books, CD-ROMs, DVD, Internet sites, maps, posters, pamphlets, periodicals, and microform.

The example below shows how the Superintendent of Documents classification number L 2.3/4:2006-07 is constructed for the publication Occupational Outlook Handbook:

        L                       2.                    3/4:            2006-07
