Music and Musical Theatre

A guide for finding music and musical theatre resources and information

Naxos Music Library

Naxos allows users to search up to 11 different components in their advanced search including: composer, artist, performing group, label, genre, instrument, period, duration, country, year composed and moods.

Where can I find media (CDs, DVDs, videos)?

Most videos and DVDs

  • Shelved amongst books in the Main Collection (2nd floor). Use the call number of the item to find it (or ask for help at the Research Help Desk).  There is not  a separate DVD section.

CD Collection

  • located in front of the Instructional Lab (Room 122) in the Leah Peterson Learning Commons.

Searching For Audio Recordings in the Catalog

When searching the search box on the library's homepage (or the search box above) for CDs, DVDs, or vinyl LPs you can search under:

  • Subject (examples: oboe, instrumental music, opera, etc...)
  • Author (composer's name or specific performer's name)
  • Title (specific album)
  • Key Word (specific song title included in an album)

Hint: you can also choose the Media option in the search box. This will search videos, DVDs, CDs & LPs, but it will not search for scores. For a score search, choose the Everything option.
