If you are flying, keep in mind the amount of room/weight you are allowed (and make sure you leave room for conference goodies like books and other souvenirs).
If you are driving and have your own vehicle, you can be a lot more generous with what you pack. If you are carpooling, consider the total amount of people and luggage that will be in the vehicle and plan your packing accordingly!
If this is your first time at a campus conference, your accommodations are a lot more basic. If you tend to use hotel toiletries, the hair dryer, or room service, think about ways you can include those in your packing.
There are also some options to stock up on what you need when you arrive. WalMart, Walgreens, Family Dollar, a gas station, fast food, and a couple of grocery stores are close to campus. Of these, the gas station, Family Dollar, and fast food places are the most walkable. But you can also try to find a friend with a car to drive you!
Some people prefer their special blankets, pillows, or towels. If so, make room to pack them in your luggage!
Being on campus has its advantages, such as convenience to conference sites and cost. However, there are some challenges to overcome. Amy, one of the conference hosts, likes to travel with coffee/tea supplies, including a collapsible tea kettle and a pour-over dripper! Others want to make sure they have an electric fan handy.
