Respondus offers two assessment tools to NNU faculty and students:
The LockDown Browser is a browser (like Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) that locks down a quiz or test from Canvas. The browser deters students from cheating by disabling a students ability to copy, print, and access other applications or websites during an online exam. Browser and testing settings are activated and managed through quizzes in Canvas. Students must download the LockDown Browser before they can take the quiz or exam. LockDown Browser is recommended for online exams taken live, in-class with an instructor or proctor present.
Respondus Monitor is an automating proctoring tool that works with LockDown Browser to deter cheating in non-proctored exams. Monitor uses a student's webcam and video analytics to flag suspicious behavior for the instructor to review after the exam closes.Monitor can be added to Canvas quizzes within the LockDown Browser settings. Students have to have the LockDown Browser downloaded in order to use Respondus Monitor. Monitor is recommended for online quizzes and exams that are assigned as homework or in fully online courses.
