Library Use
Members of the community are welcome to use the library. Individuals under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Library services are suspended every Wednesday during the academic year from 10:00-11:00AM, for community chapel. Hours may vary on holidays, so be sure to check our website for library hours and the hours for all other partners in the Learning Commons.
Library Cards
Anyone who lives within a 60-mile radius of the campus may apply for a Community Patron card for an annual fee of $50.00. You will be asked to complete an application form and present a photo ID. After library staff has verified your status, a borrower’s card will be issued granting you the following privileges: check out of circulating materials (excluding Reserves and Interlibrary Loans) and on-site only access to electronic resources. The initial check-out shall be limited to 2 items; thereafter 10 items may be checked out at any one time. Items may be renewed twice unless requested by another patron. When checking out material the library borrower’s card must be presented and photo ID may be requested.
The $50 fee is waived for persons who are in the following categories:
A. NNU alumni - identify as an NNU Alum when completing your card application. Alumni status will be confirmed with the NNU Office of Alumni.
B. Teacher/Educators in a local school district and local clergy - submit proof of employment from a local school or affiliation with a religious organization.
C. Local area high school juniors and seniors - must be16 years of age and older and need to present a school photo ID.
D. Spouses of NNU employees and students
E. NNU Retirees
F. Dependents of NNU employees or NNU students
If you meet the criteria in categories D, E, or F you have the option of being issued an NNU Community Patron card or obtaining an NNU photo ID card which can be used in place of the Community card. You will be asked to provide your NNU ID number obtainable from the Human Resource Office. An NNU photo ID can be obtained at the Learning Commons Service desk during regular business hours, 8-5 pm Monday through Friday.
Exceptions
Any exceptions to the above will be made by the Library Director and on an individual basis. Possible exceptions might be visiting scholars, guests of the University, and requests of the President.
