Welcome to the research guide for GEOG 1050 -- Introduction to Geography! This guide will provide information and resources necessary for you to complete the "Map" assignment (refer to your syllabus) for this course. 

In the Library of Congress Classification system (which is used by the NNU Riley Library to organize materials), the following letters related to various aspects of geography.

G - General Geography. Atlases. Maps

GA - Cartography

GB - Physical Geography

GC - Oceanography

If you search the library system for print items, it will include the letters followed by a series of numbers. This is how you find the item(s) on the shelf. If you need assistance locating an item, ask a librarian or someone at the Learning Commons Service Desk.

Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Gazateers

Atlases & Maps

A collection of maps: Idaho, Oregon, and world are located in the map cabinet next to the Atlas Stand. The world maps are located in the last drawer. The map cabinet is located on the main floor, just around the corner from the main floor printing station in the Learning Commons.

The NNU Riley Library provides access to the following geography-related journals.

National Geographic, 1995 to present (3-month delay on full text)

National Geographic, 1912 to present (available in in print, 2nd floor west side of the Learning Commons)
